ABOUT US

Mission
To promote healthy growth and development for all children in my care, by providing high quality and developmentally appropriate care in a clean, safe, comfortable, loving, educational environment, where children can play and learn, while developing their self-esteem and a strong foundation.
Child Care Philosophy
My goal is to provide all of the children in my care, a clean, safe, comfortable, loving, environment, where they can play and learn. Respect toward self, others and the environment will be emphasized. I believe in the value of both structured and flexible schedules.
Structured activities will include the use of a preschool curriculum, regular reading times, arts and crafts, and musical activities. Outdoor play, free play, and birthday parties are some of the more flexible activities we have. Children learn through play. I try to provide many opportunities for them to "discover" things about the world they live in.
Meet the Provider
Hi, my name is Randee. I am the owner and director of Kiddie Kastle Family Day Home. I began babysitting children when I was 12 years old and I continued to babysit throughout high school. I interacted with the children I cared for; we would build, play cars, school, house and even beauty shop. I will never forget the children locking duplos into my hair as rollers. During my 10th and 11th grade years in high school, I took a class called Occupational Childcare. In this class, I was given the opportunity to help run a laboratory preschool.
After graduating from Norfolk State University with my BS in Interdisciplinary Studies, I decided I wanted to be home with my own children. Kiddie Kastle Family Day Home was founded in September 1997. I started out working with just a few children. My business grew and I became a State Licensed Childcare provider in 2002.
In 2008, I received my Associate's Degree in Child Development from Tidewater Community College. I have received Early Childhood Infant and Toddler Endorsement, Early Childhood Preschool Endorsement, Early Childhood Endorsement I – Creativity Series and Early Childhood Endorsement II- Health, Safety and Nutrition from Virginia Department of Social Services. I participated in the initial pilot program for the Virginia Star Quality Initiative program for family Homes. On July 6, 2012, my Family Child Care Home (Kiddie Kastle) received a Four Star Rating from Virginia Early Childhood Foundation. On May 1, 2013, I received the CDA Credential from the Council for Professional Recognition. On May 9, 2013, I was awarded the Safe Harbor Award in recognition of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of Hampton Roads Children.
I have now begun the process to become an accredited provider with the National Association for Family Child Care. I continue to attend conferences and trainings on a regular basis to keep up to date on the ever changing field of Early Childhood. My program has participated in the kindergarten transition checklist pilot program and the Early Education Small Business Program through the City of Virginia Beach. I am a member of several early childhood associations NAFCC, VAFCCA and PFCEEA, where I am the President. Most recently in February of 2016, I completed my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies at Walden University. Other certifications include MAT Certification, CPR and First Aid. I am committed to making a difference and being inspirational in the lives of children and their families.
